Beginning this season, baseball umpires under consideration for an assignment to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship will monitor their eligibility requirements under the “Postseason” tab on the NCAA Baseball website.

In order to be eligible for nomination by a conference, each umpire must meet the following requirements:

• NCAA Regional Clinic. Register and attend an NCAA regional baseball clinic in its entirety. 
• NCAA Division I Game Officials Background Check/Citizenship Program. Complete and submit the online background check and citizenship process by the designated deadline (before 11:59 p.m. Pacific, February 14, 2010). For an umpire to be eligible for selection to officiate the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, the umpire must complete the online background check and citizenship process each year.
• NCAA Online Rules Test. The exam consists of 50 randomly selected questions from an overall bank of 90. In order to be eligible, an official must score 80% or better. Each umpire is permitted to take the test twice; the highest score will be recorded. You can begin by clicking the “Testing” tab above.  
• Number of Games Umpired. You must umpire a minimum of 25 baseball games during the current season, not including exhibition and conference tournament games. Game information will be tracked throughout the season, but not on the website.

After you register, you can monitor your Division I Championship eligibility on this website from the “POSTSEASON” tab. The first three online eligibility components listed above are available from January 8 through February 14, 2010. The system will NOT be accessible after 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on February 14, 2010, although you will still be able to view the final results of the tracking.

Please keep track of your own eligibility components and report any discrepancies to NCAA Baseball. Each umpire is responsible for reporting inaccuracies.
