July 29, 2016, Sandy, UT— ArbiterSports, the established leader in athletic event management solutions and business leader in Salt Lake City for over 30 years, participated in a volunteer opportunity with Junior Achievement of Utah; a chapter of Junior Achievement USA, the world’s largest organization devoted to teaching students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Junior Achievement USA encourages local volunteers to deliver curriculum while at the same time, share their own experiences with the students.
As part of the volunteer opportunity, the management team from ArbiterSports went to Edison Elementary, a Title 1 school in Salt Lake City. During their time at the school, they taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students about Economics, Finance, Budgeting, City Government and Entrepreneurship. Nate Evans, Sales Manager at ArbiterSports, was the one who prompted ArbiterSports’ involvement with Junior Achievement of Utah. He was so moved by his experience with the organization last year that he encouraged ArbiterSports to get involved too.
“When we learned about this wonderful opportunity available in our own community we were anxious to become involved,” said Jeff Triplette, CEO of ArbiterSports. “We benefited greatly from spending time with kids that don’t have the same opportunities as kids at other schools and hope that they benefited from our experience and insight. We thank Nate Evans for facilitating our involvement and JA for providing a wonderful experience.”
Since the company’s inception 30 years ago, ArbiterSports has continued to possess a vested interest in improving the lives of youth. ArbiterSports has focused on this goal not only as the provider of sports event management software for thousands of youth leagues and schools across the country, but also as a volunteer and donor in many causes that impact children.
“We are so grateful to ArbiterSports for coming out in full force to support our JA-in-a-Day event at Edison Elementary, bringing seven fabulous volunteers to teach JA programs in the classrooms at this Title I school. In reviewing the pictures, videos, and heartfelt thank you notes from the students, it was obvious that Team Arbiter had a great influence on these students,” said Becky Harding, VP of Development and Communications with Junior Achievement of Utah. “We recognize that our volunteers are the heart and soul of JA as they inspire and empower students, and we know that their time with these kids will have long-lasting positive effects.”
