‘My Cause, My Cleats’: NFL Teams to Show Support in Week 13
For the second year in a row, the NFL initiative “My Cause, My Cleats” is part of Week 13. League athletes—500 from across the 32 NFL teams—will wear different pairs of cleats that represent causes that are important to them. The causes range from local to national and include cancer research, the Special Olympics, domestic violence awareness, and many more. Emotions can run high during a game, and that was no exception in the matchup between the New York Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs. Marcus Peters, cornerback for the Chiefs, was upset about a holding penalty called on the Chiefs, so he picked up the referee’s flag, threw it into the stands, and walked into the locker room with less than three minutes left in the game.
